Youth Intern

We are excited to announce that Ernest Solar is joining us as a Youth Intern. He'll be working under Pastor Mike and with our team of Youth Leaders to provide consistent leadership, discipleship and connection for students and families. He will start attending this Wednesday, September 9th, to see how we run our Wednesday Nights, and will start taking over responsibility for various aspects of Youth Group with the plan to begin teaching the first week of October. He and his family will also begin attending church in October after finishing a previous commitment.

As a Youth Intern, his involvement will be about 15-20 hours a week. Please understand that he will not take on the same level of responsibility as our previous Associate Pastor of Youth and Family. His primary areas of focus will be curriculum development, leader support and facilitating Wednesday Night Youth Group and Youth Sunday School.

Below is a message from Ernest, introducing himself and his family. When you see him in the coming weeks, please help him to feel welcome!

Hello everyone, my name is Ernest Solar and I am originally from Northern Virginia. In 2015, I married Christine who is from Northwest Pennsylvania. Together, we raised four children, Christian, Alyvia, Cassandra, and Tahlia who are currently in their 20’s and living out their lives on the East coast. We also have Lachlan who is 9, and Silas who is 4, and together the four of us have been traveling around the country as full-time RVers for the last 3 years. We have crisscrossed this beautiful country several times and have discovered that the area around Canon City is our favorite place to be!

I have been an educator for over 20 years in public and private secondary schools and in higher education. During my tenure as a teacher, I have worked closely with families and children of various needs in developing education programs; provided counseling to children, parents, and families; developed and taught classes, seminars, and workshops; and organized and hosted events.

Currently, I am working on a Master’s Degree in Adventure Ministry at Yellowstone Theological Institute in Bozeman, MT. As an outdoor enthusiast, I enjoy learning how to minister and share Scripture with the Outdoor Community and the larger church family. I am also an author and enjoy hiking, camping, reading, stargazing, and going on adventures with my family.

Christine is a former high school English teacher, a certified Lifecoach, and Voice Actress. She is my partner and best friend! She enjoys reading true crime stories, listening to music, hiking and being in nature, and being surrounded by her kids!

Lachlan is 9, soon to be 10! He loves the outdoors, biking, anything Spider-Man, super-heroes, Minecraft, and just having fun!

Silas is 4 and simply loves life!

We are all excited to be joining the Christian Family Fellowship Family and I am especially thrilled to be working with the Youth Group! Together, we will learn about the Lord and go on some amazing adventures!
